Company description : The Embassy of Switzerland in Bangkok. 
Responsibility : • As a member of the Political and Economic Section at the Embassy of Switzerland, the Political Officer will take on the following tasks and responsibilities:
• Monitoring and analysing domestic political developments in Thailand and its relationship to neighbouring countries and regional organisations (such as ASEAN).
• Writing regular reports and briefings in English on these developments and undertaking ad hoc researches on various political topics.
• Maintaining and expanding working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the Thai authorities, political sphere, civil society, media and academia ; organising meetings and facilitating dialogues with key political actors.
• Participating in the planning and implementation of high-level bilateral visits as well as outreach events of the Embassy.
• Assisting in protocol, administrative matters, and taking minutes at meetings.
• Understanding and contributing to the promotion of Switzerland’s values and foreign policy’s objectives, including in the fields of democracy and human rights.
• Ensuring exact written and oral translations (Thai-English both ways) for official meetings, Embassy communications and for other occasions.
• Media work: monitoring mainstream and social media in Thailand; developing working relationships with Thai media representatives; producing regular bilingual (Thai – English) content for the social media presence of the Embassy.
• Consular: regular handling of some judicial assistance and consular protection cases.
 
Qualifications : • University degree - preferably Master’s degree, ideally in Political Sciences/ International Relations/ Social Science/ or other related fields.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in international organisations/ government agencies/ journalism/ civil society organisations/ academia or related fields.
• Thai (mother tongue) and English (proficient spoken and written). Good general knowledge of French and/or German are considered an advantage.
• Strong interest and thorough understanding of Thailand’s political and social developments.
• Ability to connect quickly with various key political stakeholders. Excellent communication skills in Thai and English. Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Strong organisational and planning skills. Great motivation, commitment, loyalty and efficiency in achieving expected results.
• Considerable sense of responsibility, aptitude to work both autonomously and in a team, ability to think strategically and to take initiatives. Open to change and ability to work under pressure and to respect strict deadlines. Aptitude to represent the Embassy in public.
• Open-mindedness and inter-cultural flair and demonstrable interest in integrating in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural and dynamic work environment.
